High Desert Bank is the first local bank to
open in Bend, Oregon, since 1977. What is
the bank’s plan for success?
High Desert Bank is located in Bend, Oregon, a town with 80,000 people and 14
banks. Only one of those banks is based here and was founded in 1977. It was
clear that there was a need for another local community bank because I heard
many times, “When I walk into my bank no one knows me and I don’t know
anyone there – what happened to personal service?”
Our plan for success addresses that concern: Our goal is to build a true
community bank, where service is not just a cliché or tag line on an ad, but
actually delivered by every one of the dedicated staff at our institution. We
deliver our products to customers packaged the way they want them and in a
way that makes economic sense to us — and we do it with exceptional service.
This is an easy formula for success; just look at any successful small business and
their roots are the same.
Recently I met a new customer in our lobby. After introducing myself I asked
how he found us. His response was, “When I called, I was not transferred around
and Amy was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions.”
We will continue to be involved in the community and develop business by
our reputation, referrals from existing customers, our board of directors and
investors — a formula for success.
