LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX: Oct. 25, 2005: The Board of Directors of Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) today announced the Corporation's 53rd consecutive quarterly cash dividend, increasing the payment from $0.18 to $0.19 per common share. The dividend of $0.19 per common share represents a 12 percent increase over the $0.17 dividend paid in the same period in 2004 and a 6 percent increase over the $0.18 dividend paid in the preceding quarter. This dividend is payable December 1, 2005, to shareholders of record as of November 7, 2005.

Record earnings per share (EPS) of $0.64 basic and $0.61 on a diluted basis for the quarter ended September 30, 2005, reflect 23 percent and 22 percent increases, respectively, when compared to 2004's comparable quarter EPS figures of $0.52 and $0.50 for basic and diluted.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: July 21, 2005: Today, Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) reported record second quarter 2005 earnings of $8.3 million, up 20 percent from the same period in 2004. Record earnings per share (EPS) of $0.56 and $0.54 on a basic and diluted basis reflect 14 and 15 percent increases when compared to last year's $0.49 and $0.47, respectively. Total assets exceeded $3.3 billion at June 30, 2005, representing a 16 percent increase on an annualized basis from the beginning of the year. Total portfolio loans exceeded $2.8 billion, increasing 13 percent when compared to the $2.5 billion reported at June 30, 2004. Total deposits surpassed $2.7 billion, reflecting a nearly 17 percent increase on an annualized basis.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: January 27, 2005: Today, Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) reported record fourth quarter earnings of nearly $8 million, representing a 26 percent increase over the $6.3 million recorded in the fourth quarter of 2003. Record basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for the quarter of $0.55 and $0.52, respectively, represent a 17 percent and 16 percent increase as compared to last year's fourth quarter figures of $0.47 and $0.45. For the year, Capitol reported record earnings approximating $27 million in 2004, a 14 percent increase over 2003's then record $23.4 million bottom line. Record basic and diluted EPS for 2004 were $1.88 and $1.79 respectively.
