LANSING, Mich. and PHOENIX, Ariz.: October 18, 2007: Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE: CBC) today reported third quarter 2007 net income approximating $6.0 million compared to $10.8 million in the third quarter of 2006. Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) were both $0.35 for the third quarter of 2007, compared to $0.37 on a linked-quarter basis and $0.68 and $0.66, respectively, for the third quarter of 2006. Consolidated assets approximated $4.7 billion at September 30, 2007, a 21 percent increase when compared to $3.9 billion a year ago. Total portfolio loans approximated $4 billion, increasing 22 percent year-over-year, when compared to the $3.3 billion reported at September 30, 2006, and reflecting 24 percent growth, annualized, on a linked-quarter basis. Total deposits, approximating $3.7 billion, reflect an 18 percent increase over the approximate $3.1 billion reported in 2006.

Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) were both $0.37 for the second quarter of 2007, compared to $0.65 and $0.63, respectively, for the second quarter of 2006. Consolidated assets approximated $4.4 billion at June 30, 2007, a 19 percent increase when compared to $3.7 billion a year ago. Total portfolio loans approximated $3.8 billion, also increasing 19 percent year-over-year, when compared to the approximate $3.2 billion reported at June 30, 2006, and reflecting 20 percent growth, annualized, on a linked-quarter basis. Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) were $0.38 and $0.36, respectively, compared to $0.64 and $0.61 for the first quarter of 2006. With annualized growth of 19 percent in the first three months of 2007, consolidated assets approximated $4.3 billion at March 31, 2007, compared to $3.6 billion a year ago. Total portfolio loans exceeded $3.6 billion, increasing 18 percent when compared to the approximate $3.1 billion reported at March 31, 2006. Total deposits neared $3.4 billion, reflecting a 16 percent increase on an annualized basis.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: April 3, 2007: Today, Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) announced the issuance of $55 million of trust preferred securities through two pooled trust preferred programs. On March 15, 2007, approximately $35 million of trust preferred securities were issued, structured with a 30-year term and callable at par after five years, with a fixed rate of 6.55 percent for the first five years, and thereafter with a floating distribution rate equal to the 3-month LIBOR plus 1.65 percent. In addition, approximately $20 million of trust preferred securities were issued on March 22, 2007, also structured with a 30-year term and callable at par after five years, with a floating rate priced at 3-month LIBOR plus 1.65 percent, and currently carrying a pre-tax cost of approximately 7 percent.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX: Jan. 26, 2007: Today, Capitol Bancorp (NYSE:CBC) reported record year-end earnings for 2006 approximating $42.4 million, an 18 percent increase over 2005's earnings which approximated $36 million. Basic and diluted earnings per share (EPS) for 2006, also records for Capitol Bancorp, were $2.69 and $2.57, respectively, even while the Corporation experienced a nearly 900,000 share increase, or approximately 6 percent expansion, in the outstanding share count to approximately 16.7 million shares at year-end 2006. For the fourth quarter 2006, Capitol Bancorp reported record earnings approximating $11.4 million, a 14 percent increase over the $10 million in earnings recorded in the preceding year. Record basic and diluted EPS for 2006's closing quarter of $0.71 and $0.68, respectively, represent an 8 percent and 6 percent increase as compared to 2005's fourth quarter amounts of $0.66 and $0.64.
