The dividend declared today of $0.05 per common share is payable December 5, 2008, to shareholders of record as of November 24, 2008.

Capitol Bancorp Limited Announces Pricing of $33.5 Million of Trust Preferred Securities
LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: July 1, 2008: Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE: CBC), today announced that on June 30, 2008, the Corporation priced $33,500,000 aggregate liquidation amount of 10.5% Trust Preferred Securities to be issued by Capitol Trust XII, a statutory trust formed under the laws of the State of Delaware (the "Trust"), representing preferred beneficial interests in the Trust (the "Trust Preferred Securities") in an underwritten public offering at $10 per Trust Preferred Security. The Trust has also granted the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to 502,500 of Trust Preferred Securities to cover over-allotments, if any. The offering is scheduled to close on July 7, 2008.

LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX, Ariz.: June 10, 2008: Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE: CBC), (the "Company") and Capitol Trust XII, a statutory trust formed under the laws of the State of Delaware (the "Trust"), today announced the commencement of an offering of $30 million aggregate liquidation amount of the Trust's preferred securities, representing preferred beneficial interests in the Trust (the "Trust Preferred Securities") for sale in an underwritten public offering. The Trust intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase up to an additional $4.5 million aggregate liquidation amount of the Trust Preferred Securities to cover over-allotments, if any. Capitol Bancorp Reports Fourth Quarter Results
LANSING, Mich. and PHOENIX, Ariz.: January 31, 2008: Corporate earnings for 2007 were $21.9 million, down 48% from reported earnings for 2006 of nearly $42.4 million. Earnings per share for the year of $1.27 decreased about 50% from the $2.57 reported in 2006. Fourth quarter net income approximated $3.4 million ($0.20 per diluted share) compared to $11.4 million ($0.68 per diluted share) in the fourth quarter of 2006.
