Capitol University

In 2004, Capitol Bancorp launched a comprehensive learning initiative, Capitol University, to help employees maximize their potential in both their careers and personal lives.

The University was launched in support of one of Capitol's core values - Maximizing Potential. Executive management places a high value on continuing education and recognizes the importance of balancing professional development with personal development. Therefore, the University also offers training on a wide range of topics ranging from banking and service delivery basics to preparing for one's financial future.

The University draws on Capitol Bancorp's talented staff of bankers and technology experts as well as the talents of some of the best resources in the financial services industry to create and conduct classes.

Using the latest technology, the Corporation's employees share the learning experience via web cast or video conferencing. Classes also are offered in person at locations throughout the company.

The goals of Capitol University are:

  1. Offer enhanced orientation for both employees and the Corporation's affiliate banks' directors.

  2. Train and equip employees to better perform their current positions at the Corporation.

  3. Offer opportunity for career and personal growth within the Corporation.

  4. Offer personal enrichment courses on a variety of topics.

  5. Offer current and potential bank customers opportunities to learn about topics that affect their financial well-being.
