LANSING, Mich., and PHOENIX: Sept. 5, 2006: Capitol Bancorp Limited (NYSE:CBC) will be a featured presenter at the West Coast SuperCommunity Bank Investor Conference in San Francisco on Thursday, September 7.

Michael M. Moran, Capitol Bancorp's chief of capital markets, will provide an overview of the company's unique operating model, financial performance and strategic growth initiatives to institutional investors, high net-worth individuals and analysts from leading investment banks.

Capitol Bancorp, a community bank development company with 47 separately chartered banks located throughout the country, recently reported a 24 percent increase in its second quarter earnings to a record level $10.3 million. During that quarter, Capitol Bancorp added five new community banks to its network: two in Georgia and one each in Arizona, Indiana and Washington. Development activity is currently underway in several other states including California, Nevada, Ohio and Washington and, last week, the Corporation announced the appointment of Clinton Dunn as regional president in charge of development activities in the Texas Region.
